The Papago GoSafe 260 is an incredible dashcam because it mounts on your car’s stock rear view mirror. You just clip the camera on to your existing mirror – so you have a two in one unit – a dash cam and a rear view mirror. This makes it nearly impossible to tell from outside that you have a dash cam at all!
Don’t let the sleek design fool you, though. The camera records crystal clear video at 1080p Full HD with 30 fps, so you’ll see crisp and realistic footage. On the mirror side, you have your regular mirror, as well as a 2.7 inch screen built in to the mirror where you can view live video or play back recorded video.
The camera records with a 130 degree viewing angle so it captures a line of sight of nearly exactly what you see with your own eyes.
Just because the unit is mounted to your mirror doesn’t mean your camera has just one position – you can adjust the mirror to your comfort level and swivel the camera lens to whatever position you like so you can capture video properly.
The mirror is a special anti-glare design so even if someone has their high beams on behind you, you won’t feel the glare in your eyes – but you’ll still be able to see the headlights perfectly.
You can also zoom in and out of any scene just by pushing a button – and you can also take a snapshot.
When your camera is plugged in to the cigarette adapter, it will automatically turn on whenever you turn your car on, so you’ll never forget to record your drive.
Recording features are standard as in all dashcams – the camera will keep recording and looping until it runs out of space, when it will start recording over old videos – unless you choose to save a video or a jerk or hard knock is detected, when it will save the file itself.
You can also plug the camera into your HDMI port on your TV to watch videos directly. You can also transfer the videos to your computer with ease. There is also a “parking mode” in which the camera will automatically start recording when it detects motion in front of your car – but for this to work, you’ll need to hardwire it into your car’s battery or fusebox.
It’s also got some neat safety features like a fatigue alert, which is an alarm that will sound every set amount of time reminding you to take a break, and another alert if the car in front of you starts to move after 10 seconds of being still(if you are distracted at a stoplight or something). It will also remind you to turn on your headlights after dark.
