At first glance, the Vantrue N4 Dual Dash Cam seems like a typical dash cam. However, even those this has Dual Dash Cam in its title, it actually houses a total of 3 cameras. Technically it should be called a 3 channel camera. It’s really a full time personal guardian for your car. As such, anyone who drives can benefit from the Vantrue N4 dash cam. Whether you’re an Uber driver, Lyft driver, restaurant delivery driver, or just your average everyday driver, this dash cam might be the best purchase you make this year.
The main selling point of this dash cam is the security it provides. The Vantrue is your best friend if you’re ever in an accident. We say that because it provides 3 different angles of camera coverage, and the main camera has a built-in microphone and speaker. It offers the traditional dashboard camera, as well as a rear cam, and even a camera monitoring the interior of the car. All 3 of these viewing angles allow you to have all the evidence you need in case of any driving mishap.
The Vantrue N4 Dash Cam offers all around vehicle protection which utilizes a 155-degree recording range in front of your car, a 165-degree viewing angle of the interior, and 160-degree rear camera span so you, your passengers, and your vehicle are all covered at all times. The main camera has a massive storage capacity which supports up to a 256 GB SD card, so you won’t need to worry about running out of storage space for all of this coverage.

Vantrue N4 Features
The Vantrue is packed with essential features that other cameras in the market are lacking. Here are a few of the features I was thrilled to see the Vantrue provide.
24 Hour Parking Mode
This is one of the coolest features that will essentially be your car’s bodyguard. It can help you identify someone who is trying to steal from your vehicle or cause damage to it. In order to use this feature it must be hardwired or connected to an external battery which is sold separately. If you live in, or travel to sketchy areas, it might be worth the extra investment. Also, if you park your car in a crowded parking lot often, you will now have extra protection from bad drivers who ding your car while poorly parking their car.
Vantrue does offer a hardwiring kit that plugs right into your ODB port which is a plug-n-play solution that doesn’t involving crimping wires and you still get the benefit of 24/7 monitoring. We found this a great solution for those who aren’t comfortable around basic electrical tasks and want an easy answer.
Sony Sensor WDR
This awesome feature provides some super night vision power allowing you to capture crisp clear imagery even in the dark. This is thanks to the lighting and aperture of the lenses. This boasts a F-Stop of 1.4, which lets in tons of light! I have to say this is one of my favourite features about this dash cam. As someone who enjoys driving at night, it is imperative that my dash cam is ready to work.
Motion Detection
The motion detection feature of this camera is incredible. The Vantrue N4 dash cam has an auto wake up and starts to record as soon as it detects movement in the front of the vehicle. This will help you catch a thief, vandalist, and also in situations of a hit and run or insurance fraud.
We tested the effectiveness of the motion detection at different distances and found it to be fairly good. One test was at a close distance, as if I was peering into the car. The second test was about 20 feet away from the car. Both times as soon as I entered the frame, the camera began recording.
One thing I did notice is that it will also detect vibration such as if someone hit your car while parked. If the device was in parking mode, a car door closing would set it off. At first I thought it was annoying, but in reality I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, there may be an off chance that I accidentally trigger it, but most likely it will capture anyone entering or exiting the vehicle.
Weather Resistant
The built-in supercapacitor protects the dash cam in extreme temperatures. Your camera will be safe in temperatures as high as 158-degrees Fahrenheit and in cold temperatures as low as 14-degrees Fahrenheit. If you live in an area where temperatures get colder than 14 degrees you should remove the dash cam during those times to ensure it will function properly afterwards.
I drove in 90 degree hot weather and while I know there are plenty of other places that have warmer weather, the camera performed without a hitch. There was no crashing or otherwise low performance.
Collision Detection
The Vantrue N4 automatically detects any kind of collision and triggers the auto-record feature. One of the great things about this feature is that it will trigger and begin recording even when the dash cam is off. The slightest amount of impact will be detected and the cameras record mode will automatically take action. That’s what makes the Vantrue dash cam so awesome, even if it’s asleep it is always ready to be there for you.
As you can see, the Vantrue N4 is just loaded with must have features. With this robust coverage, any event involving your car will be recorded.
Interior Camera
This setup comes with a great interior camera that has infrared lights for great night footage. As you can see, driving in pitch black you can clearly see the interior of the vehicle.
And of course infrared lights are invisible to the human eye so there isn’t anything distracting you. One thing you have to watch for is the placement of the camera. In order to see the screen, I had to place the camera closer to the passenger side than I would like. If I didn’t need to see the screen, I could place it more to the center.
Drawbacks
Rear Camera
Not a huge drawback, but the rear camera wasn’t anything special. When reviewing the footage, I can see what was behind me and what was going on, but I certainly couldn’t read license plates or signs. It is filming in 1080p but don’t expect the greatest quality.
Who Should Get the Vantrue N4 Dashcam
If you drive a vehicle on a regular basis, whether you are a delivery driver or just out for Sunday drives, this 3 channel solution might be something you want to invest in. It provides a little insurance and ease of mind when it comes to accidents and vandalism. Not to mention how helpful it would be to hand over video footage or photographs to your insurance company if anything ever did happen. With just a little bit of research you will see that the Vantrue N4 is not only one of the best dash cams on the market, but also one of the best value dash cams. As a result, it is a great option for drivers of varying budgets as well.
This dash cam has so much to offer with all of the special features. If you’re looking for all around surveillance while out and about or even while you’re in bed and your car is parked then take some time and look into this bad boy, it’s definitely worth it. Keep you, your passengers, and your vehicle protected at all times by using this incredible dash cam. The amount of money that they can save you when disputing a false claim is worth the original cost. A little investment goes a long way with this one!
